About
Adriano Codato is professor of Political Science at the Federal University of Parana (UFPR), Brazil, since 1992.
Editor of the journal Revista de Sociologia e Política/Journal of Sociology and Politics (www.scielo.br/rsocp), he is a coordinator of the Center for Research in Brazilian Political Sociology (NUSP), at the UFPR (http://www.nusp.ufpr.br/).
In 1997 he received the prize "José Albertino Rodrigues" of the National Association for Research and Graduate Studies in Social Sciences.
He was for a short period, visiting professor at the Universidad de Buenos Aires in 2007.
His research topics mainly include the following subjects: dictatorial political regimes; systems of interest representation; political elites; state elites; and Marxist political theory.
He is one of the coordinators of the research project: "Composition and recomposition of the dominant groups in the Northeast and in Southern Brazil: a comparative and interdisciplinary approach."
Currently, he is dedicated to the study of recruitment of the Brazilian political class.
He participates in the research:
1) The changes in the twenty-first century Brazilian political class: a study of the occupational profile of federal deputies and Senators (1986-2014); and
2) How does a representative: the selection of candidates for federal deputy in 2010 elections.
